About the Artist

Alice Meichi Li [李美姿] is an award-winning illustrator who grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Much to the disappointment of their working-class Chinese immigrant parents, they managed to earn enough scholarship money to attend School of Visual Arts in New York City, where they received their BFA in Illustration.

Since then, they have been honored by various organizations such as American Illustration, Applied Arts, the Harvey Awards, and the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, including receiving the Silver Award for Graphic Novels. Their art has been published in Oni Press, Dark Horse, Image Comics, Archie Comics, Titan Entertainment, Del Rey, Insight Editions, and more. Their paintings can often be found on the walls of Gallery1988, and their writings on Asian American pop culture can be found on Geek Girl Riot and Idobi Radio.

Alice currently lives and works in Queens, New York. Their personal work is informed by themes of astronomy, dichotomy, metaphysics, and the intersections of their identity – including queerness, gender, and their Cantonese American culture. When they’re not making art, they enjoy karaoke, ping pong, trying new restaurants, and frequenting museums.
